The Tampa Museum of Art
has established important collections
in two main areas: Greek and
Roman antiquities and modern
and contemporary paintings,
sculpture, works on paper, photography
and decorative arts. Traveling
exhibitions are also featured.

The Tampa Bay History Center
is a history and heritage museum
and research library in downtown
Tampa, in the Convention Center
Annex. Regional history, archeology
and multicultural heritage.
Special exhibits about Florida
and U.S. history, archeology,
antiques and collectibles. Gallery
exhibits show the geographical,
historical and multicultural
influences that have shaped
the region through the centuries,
from 12,000 years ago to the
present.

The Tampa Theatre opened
on October 15, 1926 and during
its early days presented extravagant
vaudeville shows, concerts by
the Tampa Theatre Orchestra,
and silent films. In 1977, the
City of Tampa reopened the Theatre
and began a comprehensive restoration
program. Tampa Theatre is now
open year-round and features
an acclaimed Film Series of
cinema from around the world.
The Theatre also hosts live
concerts and special events.
The USF Contemporary Art
Museum brings vital, investigative
and scholarly contemporary exhibitions,
while simultaneously contributing
to the dialogue within the international
arts community by organizing
exhibitions, producing relevant
catalogues, scheduling critically
significant traveling exhibitions
and by underwriting experimental
projects of artists emerging
on the national and the international
fronts.
Located on the Campus of USF
The Ybor City State Museum
complex includes an ornamental
garden and three restored cigar
worker's houses. One house,
La Casita, is a museum. The
Ferlita Bakery building is listed
in the National Register of
Historic Places. Open daily
from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Closed
on major holidays. Admission
is charged.
Historic Tours each Saturday
at 10:15 a.m. start at the Ybor
City State Museum. Tour of the
Cigar Worker's House Museum
and a walk about tour of Ybor
City. Cost is $4 per person
and limited to 20 people, no
reservations taken, approximately
1 hour.
